Fit & Sizing

One adjustable size fits most babies from around 6 to 24 months.

The crown strap shortens or lengthens to sit level on the head, and the chin ribbon ties off softly under the jaw. You should be able to slide two fingers under the strap.

Check the fit every few weeks. Babies grow quickly and a quick adjustment keeps it sitting correctly.

Materials & Care

Soft cotton outer with a high-loft foam core that absorbs impact instead of passing it on.

Open mesh panels across the crown let heat escape, so heads stay cool during long play sessions.

No hard shell, no rigid edges and nothing that presses on a soft skull.

To clean, hand wash in cool water with mild detergent and air dry away from direct heat.

Built For The Wobbliest Months

Somewhere between six and twenty four months your baby goes from sitting, to pulling up, to charging across the room. Almost every one of those new skills arrives with a fall.

BoingHat sits softly around the head so the knocks land on padding instead of the floor, the table leg or the tiles.

Light enough to forget about. Snug enough to stay put. Open enough that nothing gets in the way of looking, reaching and giggling.

BoingHat benefits: lightweight, 360 degree protection, adjustable straps, freedom to move

Protection That Stays Out Of The Way

  • Cushioned all the way roundA padded ring guards the forehead, the back of the head and both sides, with a soft strap over the crown.
  • Barely there weightLight enough that little necks are not working against it, so babies stop noticing it within minutes.
  • Adjusts in secondsShorten the crown strap and tie the chin ribbon. One size follows them from first crawls to confident walking.
  • Breathable by designOpen mesh panels let heat escape, so heads stay cool through a full afternoon of play.
  • Nothing rigid, anywhereNo hard shell and no stiff edges. Just soft cotton and high loft foam that absorbs the impact.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will my baby actually keep it on?

Most babies settle into it quickly because there is no hard shell pressing on them and almost no weight to fight against.

The easiest start is to put it on during something they already enjoy, like floor play, for ten minutes at a time. After a few sessions it becomes part of getting dressed.

Does it get too warm?

The crown is open mesh rather than solid fabric, so warm air escapes instead of being trapped against the head.

On very hot days we still suggest taking it off during naps and long periods in the pram, the same as you would a sun hat.

What age is BoingHat for?

Roughly 6 to 24 months, which covers sitting up, crawling, pulling to stand, cruising along furniture and those first independent steps.

Because both the crown and the chin strap adjust, one BoingHat usually lasts the whole stretch.

Will it hold back their development?

BoingHat is deliberately open at the ears, eyes and top so nothing blocks vision, hearing or head movement.

Babies still feel the wobble and still learn from it. What changes is how the landing feels, which is usually what turns a stumble into tears.

How should it fit?

The padded ring should sit level, just above the eyebrows, without sliding forward when they lean down.

Tie the chin ribbon so you can comfortably slip two fingers underneath. Re-check every few weeks as they grow.

How do I clean it?

Hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent, press out the excess and let it air dry away from direct heat.

Avoid tumble drying or radiators, which can flatten the foam and shorten how well it cushions.
